Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act

What is the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act?

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) was enacted in 2008 to strengthen the safety standards for consumer products, particularly those intended for children. The law introduced stricter testing, documentation, and labeling requirements for manufacturers, importers, and retailers.

CPSIA sets limits on hazardous substances such as lead and certain phthalates (DEHP, DBP, and BBP), and applies to a wide range of products, including:

  • Apparel and shoes
  • Jewelry and accessories
  • Toys and electronics
  • Books, school supplies, and educational materials
  • Home furnishings and bedding
  • Personal care items

What Does This Mean for You?

While products are sourced globally, the suppliers we work with are expected to partner with manufacturers that follow all CPSIA guidelines. Most of the items available are already CPSIA-compliant and safe for a variety of promotional campaigns, especially those targeting schools, families, or children.

We prioritize working with vendors affiliated with third-party compliance organizations such as the Quality Certification Alliance (QCA), which helps enforce CPSIA, California Prop 65, and other key safety standards.

How to Confirm Compliance

If you’re unsure whether a product meets CPSIA requirements, feel free to reach out using the contact number listed on our website. A promotions expert can confirm the product’s status and provide certification documents if needed.
