What Is Screen Printing?

Screen printing is a highly adaptable printing method used to personalize a wide range of surfaces—everything from paper and cardboard to plastic, glass, metal, and fabric.

Where Screen Printing Shines

This technique is commonly used to create items like T-shirts, posters, labels, decals, signs, and fabric goods. One of the biggest benefits of screen printing is its ability to apply designs to surfaces of almost any shape, size, or thickness—offering more flexibility than many other printing methods.

How the Screen Printing Process Works

The process involves three main components: a mesh screen that holds the design, a squeegee, and ink. The mesh screen is tightly stretched across a frame, and a stencil of your design is applied to it.

Ink is then pressed through the open areas of the stencil using the squeegee, transferring the image onto the material below.

Advancements in ink technology have significantly sped up drying times, making modern screen printing much faster and more efficient than it once was.

Preparing the Screen

Creating the screen involves several steps. It starts with you providing the artwork or design you want printed. From there, the image is transferred to a piece of film, which is then used to create the stencil on the screen.
